So we’ve talked through Pray, Live, and Inspire.  Now we dive into the meat of THE Cause.  I love EQUIP!  We have got to equip our teens if we are going to set them up for success in living THE Cause.  We need to EQUIP them with a “Full Story” evangelism strategy.

The average contemporary American teenager hasn’t spent near as much time in God’s Word as the average, 1st century Jewish teenager.  All the more reason that we need to equip our teens with the full story of the Gospel.  The full story of the Gospel is also known as the meta-narrative, the complete story.  There are 4 parts to the meta-narrative:

  • Creation
  • Fall
  • Redemption
  • Consumation

The Gospel has these 4 parts, but can be clearly communcated in 6 words: God. Our. Sins. Paying. Everyone. Life.  You should check out this amazing video that Dare 2 Share put together called, “Life in 6 Words.”  Simply amazing!  This is the acrostic that we use to train teens how to share the full story of the Gospel:

God loves us and created us to be with Him. (Gen 1-2 / Creation)

Our sins separate us from God. (Gen 3 / Fall)

Sins cannot be removed by good deeds.  (Gen 4 – Malachi 4 / Fall)

Paying the price for sins, Jesus died and rose again.  (Matt – Luke / Redemption)

Everyone who trusts in Him, and Him alone, has eternal life.  (John / Redemption)

Life with Jesus starts now and lasts forever!  (Acts – Revelation / Consummation)

The bottom line is that it doesn’t matter so much what model you use, so long as the way you train your teens in covers the entire story of the Gospel, not just bits and pieces.

  1. Can’t agree more! The last line is absolutely the truth. Too often folk invite people to “trust Jesus” and share the good news without actually ever sharing the Gospel. Big advocate for the meta-narrative GOSPEL sharing!
