Fully God, fully man…100% God, 100% man…the God Man…In understanding who Jesus is you must understand that He is both/and when it comes to being God and man.  He’s not a half and half mixture.  He is all of both.  It’s not the easiest concept to get my mind around, but if I believe that God is who He is, capable of anything, then I can certainly believe He can pull off existing in this world as Jesus, complete diety and complete human.

I think John describes who Jesus is best in the opening chapter of his gospel:

John 1:1-5, 14

1 In the beginning the Word already existed.
      The Word was with God,
      and the Word was God.
2 He existed in the beginning with God.
3 God created everything through him,
and nothing was created except through him.
4 The Word gave life to everything that was created,
and his life brought light to everyone.
5 The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it.
14 So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.  And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

I think John is the most amazing gospel writer of the four.  He eloquently communicates the Truth and makes it understandable enough that the ordinary (like me) can understand what he is saying.

When I think of who Jesus is, this is the first passage that comes to mind.  I have come to find that in these verses John provides the most complete answer to who Jesus is.  Eternally existing.  With God and was God.  Fully God, fully man.  The source of all life.  The light of the world.  Human.  Unfailing love and faithfulness.  The glory of the Father…His Son who died on the cross so that you and I might live in Heaven with Him for eternity…wow!
