I’m a few months into what I’m referring to as, “youth ministry…the sequel.” After 5 1/2 years of making a 30 minute to commute to Dare 2 Share Ministries in suburban Denver, CO I now find myself making a 3 minute commute down the street to Grace Fellowship Church in Johnson City, TN where I serve as the Student Ministry Pastor. GFC is the third church I’ve been called to serve in: Flint Hill Baptist Church of Fort Mill, SC (1 year, 4 months) and then Providence Baptist Church of McLean, VA (4 years, 8 months).
While the transition is intimidating some days considering the 5 1/2 year departure from full time, in the trenches Student Ministry, most days are exhilarating when I consider this my “second chance” at doing Student Ministry the way it should be done. I don’t have it all figured out, not even close! But I am approaching it from a different perspective than I did 10-12 years ago (which is how long it’s been since I experienced my first few months on the job as a Youth Pastor). I’m approaching it differently than I did then. In fact, you can read a blog post I wrote 8 months before this transition took place which was 6 months before I realized that God was calling me back into full time Student Ministry.
This blog is now dedicated to journeying through Youth Ministry for round 2…what I call “the sequel!”
